MES Alumni Association (MESAA) was formed with a clear mandate to reunite former students of MES Indian School, Qatar, from around the world and engage them in meaningful programs to give back to the community. The school takes great pride in its achievements and progress through life and the students graduating out of the school have always been success stories throughout its formation. Thus, like every great institution in the world, the graduates of MES Indian School formed an alumni association too, which is called MES Alumni Association (MESAA). Since its inception, MESAA has been instrumental in its consistent growth of members along with being involved in holding multiple events by contributing for good Samaritan affairs.

Office Bearers 2021-23

The Office Bearers of MESAA for the term 2021-23 were elected at the Annual General Meeting held in June 2021 in Qatar. The leadership team were instrumental in ensuring the building of the association and its successful functioning by organizing various successful activities and bringing together alumni across the country.

MESAA’s New Brand Logo

MESAA launched its new brand logo in 2022. While developing the new identity and moving the brand forward, the primary goal was to maintain the iconic and recognizable mark of MES Indian School. This was achieved by carefully deconstructing the design of the school logo and studying its fundamental shapes, angles and weight and then using similar strong visual colors of Royal Blue, White and Mandarin the logo to align with the MES Indian School Logo. 

Enhancement of MESF –
MES Alumni Sports Festival

MESF is the Annual Sports Festival organized by MESAA; commenced in the year 2009, with the aim to build a strong athletic community of MES graduates. In addition to organizing sports tournaments and establishing a sustainable relationship with sports graduates and sports lovers, MESF also offers other valuable opportunities for graduates such as networking, fundraising, getting involved in the planning, implementing and promoting phases of these tournaments. These activities truly resulted in strengthening connections between the alumni and increasing the visibility of MESF and the association itself.

 

MESF started off with only football matches and following successful years of football tournaments; MESF was enhanced during the 2021-23 term by adding the following sports:

  • Volleyball
  • Cricket
  • Badminton
  • Throwball
  • E-sports

 

During the term 2021-23, MESAA successfully conducted two Sports Festivals with over 500 participants and It was the first time that female graduates participated in Sports Tournaments. MESF organized Women’s Throwball and Badminton for mixed during the term 2021-23.

 

Each tournament had very grand opening and closing ceremonies with the presence of esteemed personalities of Qatar as Chief Guests.

Meet the Teacher Events

MESAA organized Two sessions of “Meet the Teacher ” event on the occasion of Teacher’s Day during the term 2021-23.

Former and current teachers of MES Indian School were invited as the panel of guests during both seasons.  Over 300 graduates joined the sessions, and it was a great opportunity for them to meet and engage with the teachers; acknowledge their contributions and reminisce about school experiences with them.

BK Mohammed Kunhi Elocution Competition

MESAA had organized a memorial event to honor the Late Mr. B.K. Mohammad Kunhi, former principal of MES Indian School and the most revered person in the history of the school. Kunhi Sir had a highly crucial role in making the school a massive success, not only in Qatar but the whole of the Middle East.

The event included an elocution competition for the students of MES Indian School.  It was a successful event with around 100 attendees including former and current teachers, MES management committee members, parents of participants and the alumni members. 

MESAA Toastmasters Club

MESAA launched its own Toastmaster club in March 2022 with the aim to provide a supportive and positive learning experience and develop communication and leadership skills. The members of the club are the graduates of MES Indian School. MESAA Toastmasters club is currently a very active and successful club, and the members meet twice in a month.

Within a brief period, MESAA Toastmasters Club earned the Premium Star Club Award by District 116 (Qatar) while MESAA members also won accolades at Division and Area Level within District 116 (Qatar).

Yoga Session on Qatar National Sports Day

On Qatar National Sports Day 2022, MESAA organized a Yoga Session for MES Indian School alumni and their families. The Yoga session was conducted by the renowned Yoga Instructor in Qatar – Ms. Elsje van der Merwe. While adults experienced an engaging yoga session, children had an entertaining time on the inflatable jumping bouncy castle.  

Meet the Alumni

MESAA hosted the “Meet the Alumni” event which featured a panel of high achievers from their respective career fields.  The event had an enthusiastic audience of more than 500 twelfth grade students at MES Indian School.

The theme of the distinguished event was “Plan Your Future” and mainly constituted the testimonies, experiences and the progressions achieved by the panelists through their careers and businesses.

Special Occasion Gatherings – Ramadan & Onam

MESAA had organized special event gatherings for the management committee and their families such as Iftar during Ramadan 2022 and for the Kerala festival Onam with traditional fervor.

CSR Activities

  • As a part of CSR initiative, MESAA had partnered up with Messrs. Mission20 for Ramadan Goodness Drive to extend its support during the holy month of Ramadan. Several alumni had joined the cause in the form of donations and actively participated in distributing food kits and Iftar meals to the under-privileged at the sites. Messrs. Mission20 is a youth social enterprise with subsidiaries & initiatives that independently focus on humanitarian and social responsibility projects. The founder of Mission 20 is an Alumni as well, Amanat Solanki, Batch 2011.   The Goodness Force is one of its most significant wings which aims for youth engagement, empowerment & promotion of goodness through implementation of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
  • MESAA had organized two blood donation campaigns in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation.

MESAA members also actively participated in fundraising for medical treatment for a former school staff member.

Creative Videos

MESAA created videos for special occasions such as Eid, Diwali, Teachers Day and FIFA 2022 which brought together several talented alumni to showcase their artistic talents. The videos had sponsors, music composers, dancers, film makers, athletes, make-up artists, Videographers, editors, cinematographers, all of whom are MESAA talents.
