MESAA TOASTMASTERS LAUNCH MEETING

The MES Alumni recently organised an impressive open house event in conjunction with Flaming Spirits Toastmasters and Talking Matters Toastmasters clubs on the 6th of March 2022. The event, which was conducted at the Mavericks 365 hall in Icono View, Holiday Villa had an abundant turnout of ex-MES students looking to become Toastmaster aspirants.

Although it followed the format of a Demo Toastmasters Meeting, the evening turned out be a mini-Reunion of sorts, with many ex-students having had the chance to catch-up after years and socialise with one another.

Toastmaster of the evening – Freeda Lobo, took everyone through the evening with vivacious exuberance and kept everyone looking forward to the agendas of the meeting. She also introduced the theme – The Reunion, specifically chosen for the event, being the perfect platform for the networking of ex-MES students.

Jinesh John was the first speaker of the day, delivering a humble yet confident Ice-breaker Speech. His subject tackled the nuances of Innovative Planning, and was Titled – Never Give Up! He also won the Best Speaker of the Day Award for his charming and humorous speech.

Pooja George, Area 9 Secretary, an ex-MES student of the 2003 batch, delivered a motivational Prepared Speech – titled, The Big Question, which challenged the inhibitions one has to break-through in life and to take brave steps forward to achieve what one wants.

The next session of the evening was Table Topics – an exercise where guests and members are randomly selected to think on their feet and speak on an impromptu topic for 1-2 minutes, and was brilliantly conducted by the Table Topics Master – Smitha Abraham (MES?? Batch??). The questions chosen by her were very engaging and relatable in nature, and she put every participant at ease knowing they were unrehearsed.

Questions were answered by (1,2,3,4 with their batches) and included pop-questions about school life, such as “Would you rather be the smartest or the funniest person in the room?”, “If you could go back in time, what would you advise your younger self?”, “Do you like you school days better, or your current days as a professional?” etc. All participants gave witty answers that scored rounds of applause, laughter and hollers of agreement from the crowd. The Best Table Topic Speaker of the Evening recognition was awarded to Raasum Sait of 2002 batch, who answered a question about which MES Teachers does he feel have left a lasting impact on him.
